Open and comment on a public layout

Open someone else's public layout in read-only mode and leave feedback in the discussion panel.

Discussion is how the community helps each other improve. Treat the panel like a code review for lighting — short, specific, kind feedback goes a long way.

  1. Open the layout

Click any card on the Community page. The layout opens in read-only mode — you'll see all the areas, fixtures, and calculation results, but nothing is editable. The "View Only" badge in the top-right makes that explicit.

  2. Read the discussion panel

The right-hand Discussion panel lists every comment on the layout, ordered by Newest or Top (most upvoted). Anyone signed in can leave a comment — anonymous visitors see the panel but need to sign in to participate.

  3. Leave a comment

Click the prompt at the top of the panel, write your comment in markdown, and submit. You can reply to any existing comment to keep a conversation threaded. The layout owner is notified of every new comment.

Be specific — referencing area names ("Driveway has a dark spot near the SW corner") is much more useful than generic feedback.

  4. Copy the layout to riff on it

Like the layout enough to use it as a starting point? Click Copy to My Layouts in the top-right banner. OpenLumen forks a private copy into your account — the original stays unchanged and the author still gets credit.
